Upholstery testing

Upholstered furniture is tested for strength and elongation of the textiles, slippage resistance of the yarns, pilling, resistance to abrasion, breathability, colour fastness, resistance to dimensional changes by washing in the washing machine, hair loss in the plushes, flammability and microbiological properties.

Scope of testing:

    • EN ISO 13934-1 Textiles – Tensile properties of fabrics – Part 1: Determination of maximum force and                        elongation at maximum force using the strip method
    • EN ISO 13936-2 Textiles – Determination of the slippage resistance of yarns at a seam in woven fabrics – Part 2:      Fixed load method (ISO 13936–2:2004)
